Eriogonum umbellatum “Alturas Red”

Possibly the best of the mid-sized Eriogonum. This one forms doming mounds of round grey leaves, backed in white. Erect stems of pale yellow pom-poms fade to a vivid rusty red. Superb selection by Siskiyou Rare Plants Nursery, said to be E. umbellatum modocense. We have established plants that get no water at all in summer.
